[01] COURSE INTRODUCTION

Drones, also known as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), have rapidly evolved from hobbyist gadgets into essential tools across industries such as photography, agriculture, inspection, surveillance, and creative content. As drone technology becomes more accessible, it is crucial to equip new users with the right knowledge and practical skills for safe, responsible, and effective drone operation. This two-day hands-on program is designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of drone technology, flight preparation, aerial videography, and compliance with Malaysian aviation regulations.

 

[02] COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course aims to:

• Provide participants with a strong foundation in drone technology, components, and flight dynamics

• Equip learners with practical skills to safely operate drones using simulators and real flight sessions

• Guide participants through the setup and operation of DJI Mavic drones

• Introduce basic aerial videography techniques for creative or professional use

• Raise awareness of Malaysian drone laws and best practices for responsible flying

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Understand different types of drones and their practical applications

• Demonstrate basic drone maneuvers using simulators and in outdoor environments

• Set up and operate a DJI Mavic drone using DJI Go 4 or equivalent apps

• Conduct safe pre-flight and post-flight procedures

• Apply basic aerial video shooting techniques using manual and programmed flight modes

• Comply with Malaysia’s drone operation laws and safety guidelines

The program combines interactive lectures, visual demonstrations, simulator-based flight training, hands-on drone flying, and group activities to ensure experiential learning. Participants will have the opportunity to practice drone operation in a safe and guided environment, supported by expert facilitators.

SHARIF SHAMSUDIN

Sharif Shamsudin is a highly experienced trainer and consultant with over three decades of industry expertise, having worked with prestigious global consulting firms such as McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, and Renoir Consulting UK. His journey also includes extensive internal consultancy experience with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), where he played a pivotal role in business performance improvement initiatives and organizational transformation projects. Sharif has developed and facilitated more than 60 training modules, impacting professionals across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

In recent years, Sharif has emerged as a passionate advocate and educator in drone technology and its applications across industries. He has conducted hands-on drone training sessions for both the public and corporate sectors, including specialized programs such as “How to Fly a Drone” and “Drone Technology for Beginners.” His ability to simplify technical concepts has made his drone courses accessible and engaging for newcomers.
