[01] COURSE OBJECTIVES

The main objective is to train the participants in the laws relating to employment and contributions and benefits of EPF, SOCSO and EIS. The program teaches participants how to:

• Identify who is covered under the Employment Act 1955; Labour Ordinances Sabah 2004 / Sarawak 2005; EPF Act 1991 & SOCSO Act 1961 & EIS (2018) and their latest amendments

• Administer the benefits of annual leave, sick leave, maternity leave, PH, rest days

• Calculate OT on normal work days, rest days and PH

• Calculate retrenchment benefits

• Handle sexual harassment

• Contribute correctly to EPF, SOCSO & EIS

• Make claims to benefits under EPF, SOCSO & EIS

• Calculate payment for OT, rest day and PH for PART-TIMERS

• Determine what minimum wages should be paid under the latest Minimum Wages Act / Order

 

[02] COURSE DESCRIPTION

What Is the Purpose of These Laws?

• The Employment Act 1955 (EA) / Labour Ordinances Sabah 2004 & Sarawak 2005 (LO) specify the obligations of employer to provide certain minimum benefits to employees

• The latest Minimum Wages Act / Order specifies the latest revised minimum wages that should be paid. This is revised every 2 years

• The Minimum Retirement Age Act 2013 sets the minimum retirement age

• Part-timers (Employment) Order 2010 identifies certain benefits for part-timers

• The EPF Act 1991 is a retirement scheme for employees that provides certain benefits even before retirement

• The SOCSO Act 1969 is an insurance scheme for employees for employment injury or invalidity

• The EIS (Employment Insurance System 2018) is an insurance scheme for all retrenched employees

• The Latest Amendments

CYRIL PAGADALA

HRD Corp Accredited Trainer, HR Consultant

Cyril holds a BA in English and an MA in Human Resource Management, bringing over 18 years of extensive real-world experience in human resources, administration, and operations across various industries, including banking, manufacturing, hospitality, tourism, and publishing. 

His career culminated in the role of Director of Administration and Human Resources for a group of companies, where he managed HR functions from recruitment to dismissal, developed policies and systems, and implemented performance appraisals, wage systems, and employee motivation strategies. Cyril is also experienced in handling misconduct, conducting domestic inquiries, and negotiating with trade unions. 

Since 2007, Cyril has transitioned into academia and corporate training, specializing in human resource management, employment laws, leadership principles, customer service, and business communication. As a lecturer for the Malaysian Employers Federation’s (MEF) OUM degree program, he shares his practical knowledge through engaging and easy-to-understand training sessions.
