In with the global adoption, the Malaysian regulators have seen the need for companies to adopt eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) to improve financial reporting in terms of relevance, consistency, timeliness, and accuracy. XBRL is a language based on XML for the electronic communication of business information. It is designed to improve the exchange, aggregation and analysis of corporate data requiring disclosure, through a unique tagging structure that provides interoperability.

Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) is introducing a digital submission platform known as the Malaysian Business Reporting System (MBRS) based on the XBRL format. This submission platform allows for the annual submission of Financial Statements and Reports (FS); Annual Return (AR); and Exemption Application (EA) which are related to the FS and AR application.

The initial MBRS implementation issues and challenges have to be addressed as errors need to be rectified during the validation process before uploading the file for MBRS filing. Therefore, the preparer of financial statements for MBRS submission have to be equipped with sound technical knowledge and adequate hands-on experience in relation to Companies Act 2016, the applicable accounting standards and financial reporting in Malaysia.

In this workshop, the participants will acquire practical hands-on knowledge to enter the financial statements components into the various MBRS templates of non-listed and listed companies as per the MBRS reporting requirements.
